For the first time, Castle Taggenbrunn transforms into a magical Christmas market on the first two weekends of December. Discover handcrafted gifts, regional delicacies and a festive programme for the whole family. Admission is free.

As the historic walls of Castle Taggenbrunn light up with festive charm and the aromas of mulled wine and Christmas treats fill the castle courtyards, the magic of Advent comes to life. For the very first time, Castle Taggenbrunn invites visitors to its Christmas market on the first two weekends of December, from 4 to 6 and 11 to 13 December 2026. Open daily from 15:00 to 20:00 on both weekends, the market promises a memorable festive experience with free admission.

Set against the unique backdrop of Castle Taggenbrunn, the Christmas market is the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the festive season. Beautifully decorated market stalls invite visitors to browse and discover handcrafted products, thoughtful gifts and little treasures for loved ones.

Away from the rush of Christmas preparations, Christmas Magic offers the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends while soaking up the special atmosphere of the castle.

Winter flavours by Jezeršek

Advent at Castle Taggenbrunn is also a culinary delight. The J-Hospitality Grouptreats guests to winter specialties: aromatic mulled wine made from wines from the Taggenbrunn Winery, hearty Krainer sausage, and freshly prepared Kaiserschmarren.

Whether warming up after exploring the market or taking a relaxing break with friends, these seasonal treats add a delicious touch to the Advent experience.

A festive programme for the whole family

Alongside the Christmas market and culinary delights, a varied programme brings even more festive cheer to the castle. From dance performances and live music to a traditional Perchten run and a magical torchlight walk with alpacas, there is something for visitors of all ages.

Friday, 4 December: Dance performance by Art & Dance Tanzstudio
Sunday, 6 December: Traditional Perchten run with the Althofner Altstadtteufel
Friday, 11 December: Festive Advent music with 8Gsong
Saturday, 12 December: Torchlight walk with alpacas, starting at the car park by the playground and making its way up to the castle

Younger visitors can also get creative at the children's craft corner on 4 and 11 December, from 15:00, where they can make their own Christmas tree decorations and festive cards.

Every day of the Christmas market brings another chance to win. Visitors can take part in a daily guessing game for the opportunity to win a Jacques Lemans voucher worth €100, with one voucher awarded on each of the six event days.

For those wishing to explore more of Castle Taggenbrunn, the castle museums will also offer reduced admission of €15 instead of €19 throughout both weekends.
